Many campsites in Italy are located between imposing mountains, lakes or on the coast. You can enjoy culture, food and drink, both on and around the campsite. The famous lakes in the north of Italy, including Lake Garda and Lago di Maggiore, are tourist attractions.

Gastronomy

Originally this wine comes from the area between Florence, Siena and Arezzo. In terms of area (160km), this region is larger than the French wine region of Bordeaux. But the red wines from the blue grape Montepulciano and Sangiovese from Tuscany are also widely known.

The sunny, warm and dry climate ensures that the grapes are rich in sugar. The further south you go, the warmer it gets, making the wines generally sweeter. The liqueur-like dessert wines usually come from the south. The north of Italy mainly knows the lighter, more elegant white wines.

Practical information

A valid passport or European identity card is required when driving to the campsites in Italy. Motor vehicle drivers must carry a valid driver's license, registration certificate and green card. When you drive a trailer or a caravan, it is mandatory to have the corresponding papers with you. Italy is a member of the EU and has the Euro as its official currency.
