Personal data

This is the privacy statement of Campingnavigator BV. In it we explain, among other things, why we collect and use personal data, what data these are and what rights you have when we process your personal data.

Who are we?

Campingnavigator, formerly Kosmos Campingwijzer, has been around since 1983. We are proud of the annual, intensive contact that is maintained with thousands of campsites and millions of campers. Thanks in part to these special contacts, an enormous wealth of knowledge has been gathered and Campingnavigator has been a leader in camping information all this time. In the meantime, we also process personal data for this. You can read here how we protect your privacy. Do you have questions about this privacy statement? Or about the use of your personal data by Campingnavigator? Please contact us by mail:

When you visit our website, we process your personal data with cookies. We use technical cookies to make the website function. We also use a website statistics program, but your data is aggregated and anonymised as much as possible. You can find more about this on our page about our Use of cookies.

Why do we process personal data?

We process personal data in order to be able to offer you camping information tailored to your wishes. These are different for every camper.

What data do we collect and use?

When we collect and use your personal data, it is usually because you have contacted us yourself. And you have provided information about yourself. For example, your e-mail address when you sign up for our newsletter or download a camping guide.

Can we process your personal data?

We may only use personal data for a reason stated in the privacy legislation. Such a reason is called a basis. The possible bases are set out in Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The main basis on which we process personal data is because this is necessary to provide you with the service that you have requested yourself. It always concerns a form of service regarding camping information or related subjects such as our country and region information. We use your data to adequately provide you with this information. And only for these things. An example of this is sending our free online magazine Discover, using your email address to send it.

This basis on the basis of which we process personal data is therefore entirely based on the consent of the data subject (Article 6 (1) (a) of the GDPR) and complies with a legal obligation (Article 6 (1) (c) of the GDPR. ).

Do we process your personal data on the basis of your consent? Then you can withdraw your consent at any time. From that moment on we will no longer process your personal data. Unless there is (also) another basis for processing your data. In simple English: if you don't want to receive anything from us anymore, let us know and simply unsubscribe. We will then remove your data from our database.

How do we protect your data?

We take both technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we process. So that this data is not lost, for example. We do this in accordance with the applicable legal requirements and guidelines.

How long do we keep your data?

We do not store your personal data longer than is necessary for the purpose for which we process your data.

Do we share your data with third parties?

In order to carry out our work, it may be necessary to share data with other parties (third parties). This can be within the Netherlands as well as within the European Union (EU).

For example, we share the address file with the company that dispatches our paper magazine Discover Magazine to the home addresses of those who requested it in the past. This is done exclusively via an encrypted connection.

What are your rights?

You have a number of privacy rights. For example, you can ask us which of your personal data we process. And if the data is incorrect, you can have it corrected. In some cases you can also ask us to delete your data or to restrict the processing of your data.

Finally, you can object to the processing of your data. And do you disagree with how we process your data? Then you can report a privacy complaint to us.
