Come and discover Hunsrück, a beautiful German region between the Moselle and the Rhine. There is a holiday in the Hunsrück for every type of camper.

The great thing about a camping holiday in Hunsrück is that you get there quickly. A trip to this part of our eastern neighbors will take you a few hours. In the morning the tent in the car, in the afternoon already at the campsite, how ideal is that?

Almost every campsite in Hunsrück has a wide variety of camping pitches. You will find luxury resorts, but also simple camping spots at the farmer. This region is also ideal for a short holiday or a long weekend with a camper or caravan

There are a number of "Best Deal" campsites, these campsites often have offers throughout the year and accept the “Best Deal Camping Card”. With this card you can use the offers or receive a discount on your overnight stays during certain periods.

Hiking in the Hunsrück
Some of Germany's most beautiful hiking trails can be found in the Hunsrück. Some examples are the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, the Soonwaldsteig and the Traumschleifen.

Do you opt for long-distance hiking trails or rather a day trip? Most campsites offer a wealth of information about the possibilities and many are ideally located for daily outings in the overwhelmingly beautiful nature.

- Saar-Hunsrück-Steig: In various stages, ranging from 11 to almost 30 kilometers, it is possible to hike the 410 kilometers long route from, among others, Hunsruck to Boppart.

- The Soonwaldsteig offers 85 km of wilderness and silence in the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park.

- Traumschleifen has been laid out as a circular hiking trail, with a length of 6 to 18 kilometres. You can easily walk through the nature reserves in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park

- The Geierlay suspension bridge is the longest and most spectacular pedestrian bridge in Germany. If you are not afraid of heights and if you want to experience something special during your holiday, this bridge should definitely not be missing from your to-do list.

Cycling in the Hunsrück
Surely you also take the bicycles with you during your stay at the campsite in Hunsrück? The environment is ideal for a day of spinning the pedals. Take the Ruwer-Hochwald cycle route, for example. This route runs over a former railway line, which now serves as an asphalted cycle path. Jump into the saddle and pedal, for example, from Hermeskeil via Reinsfeld, Kell am See, Zerf to Trier-Ruwer. We would also like to recommend the Hunsrück-Moselle cycle route, a 30-kilometre tour that takes you through valleys and valleys and dense forests.

Sightseeing Hunsruck
The history of Hunsrück goes back to the time of the Romans, Celts and Teutons. They all left their mark in this German region, a place where fairy tales sometimes seem to exist.

- Wildenburg : The medieval tower of Wildenburg, which towers high above the ruins, is such a fairytale place. The adjacent wildlife park is also worth a visit.

- Keltenpark Otzenhausen : Always wanted to know how the Celts lived? In Otzenhausen you get a good idea in a replica of a Celtic village. Combine your visit with a walk to the nearby ancient fortress wall.

- Morbach : That sounds like a place from the Lord of the Rings movie and that's what the remains of the castle from 1320 actually look like.

- Idar-Oberstein: Love bling-bling? Then head from the campsite to Idar-Oberstein, this mining town is known throughout Germany - and beyond - for its precious stones. Would you rather spend your holiday budget elsewhere? Then it is still a good idea to drive this way. In the middle of the steep rock walls, two beautiful churches and an old castle ruin shine.

Eat Drink
Don't want to put the pots and pans on the fire at the campsite in the evening? Dive into one of the many cozy catering establishments. With the generous portions that are served, you get more than value for money. Beer lover? Be sure to order a Hunsrück Pale Ale or a Hunsrück Weizen. Cheers!
