Kampeerders die een actieve vakantie willen beleven kunnen hun hart ophalen in Thüringen. Je kunt er onder prachtige wandel-, paardrij- en fietstochten maken. Gooi eens een hengeltje uit in een van de vele wateren of sla een balletje op de green. Ook kun je er diverse watersporten beoefenen. Wil je de omgeving eens van grote hoogte bekijken? Verzamel dan al je moed en ga paragliden of deltavliegen.
Liever met beide benen op de grond? Dan zit je ook goed in Thüringen. In dit gebied kun je prachtige wandelingen maken. De Rennsteig (168 km) is de beroemdste wandelroute over de bergkam in het Thüringer Woud, gevolgd door de Europesche langeafstandsroute Eisenach-Budapest (259 km In Thüringen).

Nog dagelijks genieten vele mensen van het werk deze bekende Duitsers hebben achtergelaten.Dwars door de regio lopen verschillende routes die je langs alle interessante plaatsen voert die iets te maken hebben met deze personen. Tijdens deze tocht door Thüringen word je getrakteerd op een overgang van weldadige natuur naar prachtige historische steden met rijke cultuur.
Niet alleen grote namen maar ook diverse gebeurtenissen hebben diepe sporen achtergelaten in Thüringen. Bijna veertig jaar scheidde beton en staaldraad Oost en West Duitsland. Een groot gedeelte van deze grens loopt door Thüringen, er is nog veel bewaard gebleven van deze tweedeling. Om hier meer over te weten te komen kun je de camping verlaten voor een uitstapje naar het grensmuseum. In dit grensmuseum Schifflersgrund (Asbach/Sickenberg) krijg je een goede indruk van het feit dat bewoners bijzonder te lijden hadden onder de tweedeling. Tot op de dag van vandaag worstelen veel van de inwoners nog altijd met de gevolgen hiervan.
Ook de Tweede Wereldoorlog heeft zo zijn sporen nagelaten in de regio. De concentratiekampen “Mittelbau Dora”in Nordhausen en “Buchenwald” bij Weimar trekken jaarlijks vele bezoekers. Een uitstapje naar één van deze kampen kan een indrukwekkende gebeurtenis zijn tijdens de kampeervakantie.
