Camping Saale Insel is a municipal site on the river Saale and is a 5-minute walk from the center of the attractive town of Gemünden. Camping Saale Insel is a child-friendly campsite with lots of space and next to it a brand new (free) heated swimming pool with large sunbathing area and beautiful slide. The campsite has pitches on grass and is very spacious. Large vehicles can maneuver extremely well. There is a very spacious, paved area for camper service (waste water, fresh water, chemical toilet). There is a large grass area for people who want to have a spot to keep an eye on their children in the middle of the field. There are also playground equipment and a large sandbox. The camp site has its own restaurant with simple and friendly priced meals. There is also a miniature golf course at the campsite. There are opportunities for fishing in the Saale. The area offers excellent opportunities for bike rides, hiking and the practice of multiple sports, water sports in particular. The campsite rents bicycles and recently also electric bikes. There are many bicycle routes in the area, including electric bikes. If you cycle longer distances with an electric bicycle, on certain routes you can replace your (almost) empty battery with one that is charged. Of course you can also charge your own battery. Ask for it at the reception. You will be kindly informed there! On the site one has reserved a spot, the Biker-Oase. Includes Bierstube, electricity, water and a fridge. Intended for groups of cyclists or motorcyclists who want to explore the attractive surroundings with each other. The enthusiastic campsite management organizes themed days with a certain regularity. For example for Oldtimers, Ugly Ducks (2CV). There is an indoor recreation room including pool table, table football, table tennis, slot machines.
