Camping Katzenkopf in Sommerach is a large, popular campsite. The name comes from the wine region in the immediate vicinity of the town. The area is located in the low-precipitation area of ??Germany, only 6 kilometers from the A3, exit 74. The distance to the motorway makes Camping Katzenkopf an ideal extension camp site. But the campsite is also well worth a stay for longer. Camping Katzenkopf is a lively campsite, located between two lakes and in the bend of the River Main. The campsite offers many opportunities for water sports such as surfing, sailing, motor boating, pedal boats, canoeing, swimming. But anglers can also enjoy themselves. The campsite has a large number of jetties and a private boat ramp. Camping Katzenkopf has a small private beach for children, but also many other toys, in several playgrounds. Recently, the playgrounds have been extended and improved, including with a beautiful wooden (clamber) boat. The campsite has a new miniature golf course. The pitches are mainly on grass, hardened here and there. Large vehicles can easily get a place, especially on the newly renovated and well-tended north-west part of the campsite. Moreover, the arrival area after the barrier has been improved and enlarged, for example by creating a neat roundabout before the entrance of the campsite. The places are different in size, but you have many options, up to 120 m2. The old part is rich in trees, the newer section knowingly has many sunny places. People like to take into account campers who opt for TV dish reception. Reservations are recommended in high season. If you appreciate this, you can stay overnight with your caravan at specially designed places. The plumbing is new and modern and is well maintained. The campsite has a cozy restaurant with terrace at the entrance that serves meals on an excellent level at friendly prices. People like to come back. Camping Katzenkopf is located in a well-known wine region, next to the town of Sommerach. The town lies a few hundred meters from the campsite, has some excellent restaurants and is very active, among other things because of wine festivals. For excursions we recommend a visit to Würzburg, with numerous culinary and cultural highlights, especially during the summer months. Furthermore, many other towns are worth a visit. For cyclists we recommend the cycle route along the Main (Main Radweg). The campsite was recommended for this cycling route in the Camping & Caravan Champion of June 2011.
