Camping Haltwhistle is a leafy campsite with views over farmlands, located on the river Tyne. The camping pitches are situated elliptically on a clearing of the Bellister Wood and are partly made of grass and partly paved with gravel. All around there are many squirrels. The area around the campsite is a beautiful area for walking. The Haltwhistle Rings are 22 walks through the most beautiful parts of the surrounding area. Hadrian's Wall is located at a distance of 7 km from the campsite. About 2000 years ago, this wall formed the northern border of the Roman Empire. The most spectacular parts of this wall are carefully preserved and are now an international monument. The surrounding landscape forms a breathtaking background with beautiful walks. You can walk from coast to coast along the Hadrian's Wall path (135 km). In the summer you can also take a bus tour of about 115 km on the wall. For more information: www.hadrianswallcountry.org.
