Balatonmeer in Hongarije
Lig languit op je strandstoel te genieten van het zonnetje en kijk uit over het azuurblauwe water, met een glas frisse lokale wijn bij de hand. In de omgeving wandel of fiets je door vulkanische heuvels en bossen. Of je bezoekt pittoreske dorpjes en het bruisend toeristisch centrum. Waar vind je dit paradijs? Aan het Hongaarse Balatonmeer, dat ook wel de ‘Hongaarse Zee’ wordt genoemd.

Maak een wandeling door het heuvelachtige landschap en langs kleine schattige dorpjes zoals Borsodbóta in Noord-Hongarije. Trek er op uit wanneer je verblijft op één van de campings in Hongarije. Wanneer je het over wijn hebt, zul je wellicht niet gelijk aan Hongarije denken. Maar toch heeft het land een groot aantal wijnvelden waar de meest heerlijke wijnen worden verbouwd. De heuvels van het Matra gebergte zijn ideaal voor de wijnbouw. Proef de Egri Bikavér of een van de Tokájer wijnen. Maar ook de “Aszu” dessertwijnen zijn aan te raden. Deze wijnen worden ook wel “wijn der koningen en koning der wijnen” genoemd.Ontspannen in thermale baden
In een groot deel van kun je vanaf de camping eenvoudig een dagje ontspannen in een thermaalbad. Vooral in het Noordelijk Laagland zijn er veel thermaalbronnen. Op slechts een aantal kilometer van Eger ligt Egerszalók, waar ooit naar olie werd geboord. Tijdens het boren werden de werklui verrast door een thermaalbron die geneeskrachtig water bevat van zo’n 80 graden Celcius. Het water heeft bijzondere kalkterrassen gevormd en is uitgebouwd tot een weldadig kuurcentrum. Een aanrader wanneer je kampeert op een Hongaarse camping.Praktische informatie
Een geldig paspoort of Europese identiteitskaart is nodig. Bestuurders van motorvoertuigen moeten een geldig rijbewijs, een kentekenbewijs en een groene kaart hebben. Wanneer je met een aanhangwagen of een caravan rijdt, ben je verplicht de papieren mee te hebben. Hongarije is wel lid van de EU maar doet niet mee met de euro.
