France has several National and Regional parks, and these protected natural areas are home to a historical and natural heritage. But that is not everything. There are also impressive mountains, rivers, lakes and forests around the campsites in France. Did you know that the lynx, wolf, marmot and bear still roam in the wild here? Nature is perfect for a beautiful walking or cycling trip. Ask at the campsite reception for a map showing these routes.

Day trips during a camping holiday in France

Wherever you stay at a campsite in France, there is always something to do. Amusement parks, playgrounds and water parks have been created for young and old. The most famous amusement park is of course Disneyland Paris. Did you know that you can easily combine a visit to this amusement park with a stay at the campsite?

But France has more to offer. How about a trip to the zoo, one of the many museums or an aquarium? The shop-a-holics can go all out in one of the many cities where you can shop to your heart's content.

Culture in France

When you camp at a French campsite, chances are that it is located near a castle. These are remnants of the many wars fought in France. From the campsite, visit picturesque villages and famous cities such as Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Marseille and Nice. And don't forget to visit Paris if you're camping nearby. Paris is the city of love, with many cultural attractions.

Quatorze Julliet

Vive la France! July 14, 1789, was the start of the French Revolution and is celebrated by the French at "Quatorze Julliet". It is a party all day long. Flea markets, performances, singing competitions and entertainment form the backdrop of France during the day. In every city or village, the feet will be lifted off the floor in the evening, with traditional French (accordion) music. If you travel through the country tonight you will see big fireworks everywhere, traditionally ending July 14. A beautiful panorama!

Gastronomy

French cuisine is known for its culinary delights and Burgundian food. It is even the most famous kitchen in the world! Think of the quiche lorraine, the baguette and the fish soup bouillabaisse. Crepes are also a real treat. But have you ever tasted a real Breton galette? This is a pancake made from buckwheat flour with all kinds of tasty ingredients in the middle. If you order a galette sucrée, you will get one topped with sweets and fresh fruit. Prefer something savory? Then take the galette salée, topped with meat and vegetables, for example, but also those with "fruits de mer". Bon appétit!

Practical information

A valid passport or European identity card is required. Motor vehicle drivers must have a valid driver's license, vehicle registration certificate and green card. If you are driving a trailer or caravan, you must have the papers with you. France is a member of the EU, and you can pay with the Euro.
