Camping in a mountain area with many forests? Which can! At one of the campsites in the Jura . With its capital Lons le Saunier, it is a department in the East of France bordering Switzerland. The rugged low mountain range with its many forests (approximately 40%) consisting of beech, oak and fir, extends from France to across the border with Switzerland. It is therefore not surprising that wood occupies a special place in the Jura. Much is produced from the wood, such as furniture and toys. But it can also be found in the beautiful half-timbered houses.
Lake area around Clairveaux-les-Lacs

Just north of there is the Lac de Chalain and to the south one of the largest lakes in France: Lake Vouglans with a length of 35 kilometers. Boat trips are even held on the lake, and of course you can also practice all kinds of water sports here. Where there are lakes and mountains, you often find waterfalls and caves. The most famous waterfall in this region is the Cascade du Herisson, near the Lac de Chalain.
