De verbindingen naar Oost-Finland zijn goed. U kunt rechtstreeks met de boot van Travemunde in Duitsland naar Helsinki. Reist u liever over land, dan is de route door Denemarken en Zweden aan te raden, maar ook duurder. De boot is goedkoper, maar dat bent u dubbelop kwijt aan benzinekosten onderweg.
De Finse taal is voor ons moeilijk, maar u kunt er goed terecht met Engels. Laat weten dat u uit Nederland komt dan is het ijs snel gebroken.
