Another option is the much more beautiful Gotthard Pass, parallel to the tunnel. The Nufenenpas (from the west) and the Lukmanierpas (from the east) are not recommended with a caravan. If you come from a completely different direction, the San Bernardino pass is still an option. You will then enter Bellinzona Ticino. Once through the tunnel or over the pass you will find yourself in Italy. The style of houses, churches and other buildings is very similar to the style found in Italy.
