The island of Skye has been connected to the mainland since 1995 via a 700-meter-long bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin. The bridge is now toll-free. Torvaig campsite is accessible from the A855 via a wooden bridge. A sloping and well maintained grass area is there for tents; for caravans there are 20 gravel-hardened pitches and 10 grass pitches with electricity available. For shopping and sightseeing you can visit Portree at 2 km. If you want to get to know Skye better, you can book in Portree for a bus tour of 3 hours with a guide. A visit to AROS, Viewfield Road in Portree, learns a lot about the history of the island. Info: www.aros.co.uk.
