In Vila Real the campsite is located on a hill above a large swimming complex (100m), on the outskirts of the city. Vila Real is the old capital of the province of Trás os Montes, the North-East of Portugal and a center of viticulture and crafts. The campsite is partly built in terraces and has excellent sanitary facilities and a beautiful view. It is a pity that the first field you see when entering is used as a caravan storage. The rest of the campsite is neatly cared for and planted. The swimming pool is open in high season and guests of the campsite receive a discount. At the campsite you will also find an excellent restaurant and bar in high season. Northern Portugal is a relatively sparsely populated region with granite hills, olive groves and viticulture. Where nature has had to make way for humans, we see small-scale agricultural companies. A nice excursion is to Casa Mateus, at 3 km from Vila Real, this baroque-style country house is the name giver for the famous Mateus rosé and is open for visitors. Inside you can see furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries of French and Portuguese manufacture. The surroundings of Vila Real are particularly suitable for walks.
