Camping Alexandros is located on the east side of the town of Kavala in the village of Nea Karvali. It is a simple and less well cared for site but with the space to easily accommodate large campers or caravans. The latter is the reason that we describe this campsite here anyway. In the surrounding area there is no other campsite with these possibilities. The campsite offers large, unmarked grass pitches with partial shade. It is a typical campsite for an overnight stay in transit to or from Turkey or the island of Thassos. A small number of pitches has sea views and further along the beach is full of terraces, restaurant, party room and bar but you are never further from the sea than 200m. The toilet block has been renewed but in the high season the capacity will still be on the tight side. The washing pot has fallen into disuse. You can wash dishes in the kitchen of the restaurant. Camping Alexandros offers no entertainment, but there is a fairly large, fenced playground for the little ones. There is also a large aviary with peacocks and the necessary decibels. Across the entire width of the campsite there is a narrow sand-pebble beach only a few meters wide. You have a view of the island of Thassos here. A fun and cheap day out? Take the ferry as a foot passenger to Thassos town or to the village of Prinos. There is excellent local bus transport. Monday there is a market in Prinos. The ferries run from Kavala and Keramoti. The restaurant is visited a lot by Greeks and that says something. We ate there perfectly. The campsite is located near the village of Nea Karvali, in a quiet area next to the local football club. The village is not very common but you can do all your shopping on the bike and cycle through the area because everything is flat. The campsite does not have a supermarket. Washing machine and dryer can be found at the owner who lives at the campsite. If you come with a backpack, you can use a large kitchen to cook yourself. There are simple houses in the rental. Camping Alexandros is open all year round, the restaurant from the beginning of May.
