Camping Agiannis is quietly situated between Methoni and Makrygialos, southwest of Thessaloniki at 15 km. from the E90 and directly by the sea. The campsite is perfectly suited as a transit camp site; there are not many campsites in this part of Greece. The pitches are spacious and almost all are shady. The plumbing is reasonably maintained but is somewhat dated here and there. Most of the pitches are occupied by Greeks. They make all kinds of constructions over their caravans as a shelter and that does not look cozy. The small supermarket supplies many things, chilled drinks and a fresh sandwich every morning. Occasionally there is animation or a Greek evening in the high season. Dogs are allowed in consultation. To reach the beach you have to go down a steep staircase. The sea remains shallow for a long time and is safe for children. The beach is wide but unfortunately not always clean. That has everything to do with the presence of a mussel culture right outside the door. The mussel fishermen do not take it that far and throw a lot of rubbish overboard, which then washes up on the beach again. The municipality cleans the beach every week during the season. You can also use the swimming pool with sun beds and umbrellas in high season. There is also a toddler pool but that is a bit deep for the smallest (75 cm.) There is a large and beautifully situated restaurant with terraces on three levels directly above the sea where many guests come to eat from outside. Logically that mussels are on the menu. Above the restaurant there is a simple hotel accommodation with pleasant prices. Bicycles for rent through the reception. Inland you can see the impressive Olympus mountain. In the area Vergina and Dion are worth a visit. The village of Makrygialos, 1 km.south from the campsite, has a lively boulevard with fishing boats, taverns and shops. In the village of Alikes you can make free use of the salt baths. A bus stops in front of the campsite during high season. Camping Agiannis is a great place to discover the area for a few days.
