Natuurliefhebbers komen hier goed aan hun trekken. Het departement Vogezen is een prima vakantie bestemming voor het hele gezin maar ook als je op zoek bent naar rust of een actieve vakantie. Er zijn in de Vogezen twee regionale natuurparken: de Ballons des Vosges en de Noord-Vogezen. Dat laatste gaat bijna naadloos over in het Woud van de Pfalz in Duitsland.
Geschiedenis van de Vogezen
De mooiste manier om de Vogezen te verkennen is met een toertocht over de Route des Crètes. De Route des Crètes werd in de Eerste Wereldoorlog door de Fransen aangelegd om de troepen van voorraden te voorzien. Rond de campings in de Vogezen kom je monumenten, herinneringen en oorlogsbegraafplaatsen tegen.Wandelen en fietsen
Het uitzicht vanuit de campings in de Vogezen wordt bepaald door de ballons, de ronde bergtoppen, bossen en fraaie bergen. Met de glooiende toppen en de ingesleten ravijnen is het door deze afwisselende landschapselementen een genot om te wandelen in de bossen van de Vogezen. De Grand Ballon en de Hohneck zijn de hoogste gebergten in de Vogezen. De Grand Ballon is de hoogste berg met een hoogte van maar liefst 1424 meter. De Hohneck is de één na hoogste berg in de regio. De 1363 meter hoge Hohneck steekt hoog boven de meren van de Vogezen uit. Een onvergetelijke ervaring is om vroeg in de ochtend de Hohneck te beklimmen en in het oosten de zon op te zien komen boven de Zwitserse Alpen!
