The campsite is located north of Kuusamo in the vicinity of Juuma and Ruka. It is a vast and unspoilt area suitable for recreation. In the vicinity is the Oulangan kansallispuisto, an area of ??270 km² along the river Oulanka. It is an area of ??ravines and swirling water. Karhunkieros is Finland's most famous hiking trail, running about 100 km through the Oulanka gorge to the Rukatunturi rocks. A smaller national park, Riistunturi is located southwest of Oulanka. It is a pristine wilderness, with hills and peat bogs.
