Camping Ukonnemi

Imatra Camping Ukoniemi is located in a beautiful wooded nature area on a spur of the Saimaa at 3 km from the center of Imatra. The campsite is well signposted from the center and from road 6. Imatra is located on the southeastern edge of the Saimaa and close to the Russian border. Thanks to the power plant of the Vuoksi River it has large timber and paper mills. The Karelian open-air museum is located in the city. Famous was the waterfall in the Vuoksi (Imatrankoski). In 1929 a dam and the electric power plant were installed and the waterfall was tamed. Nevertheless, the locks are opened daily for half an hour. For the "waterfall show".
