Camping Timitraniemi

the campsite is on the east coast of Lake Pielinen. A nice campsite for those of Finnish nature, fishing and paddling. Lieksa is an important city in Karelia, whose municipality shares at least 100 kilometers with Russia. In ancient times this city was inhabited by Sami's, one of the Lapp population, but the Karelians pushed them more to the north and continued to populate the city parmanent. In this city one of the most beautiful open-air museums is located for popular architecture all over Finland. It has a large number of buildings from various eras, in which the habitation of the region is illuminated over the centuries. The oldest building dates from the 17th century. A true masterpiece of modern architecture is the Lutheran church, built in 1982 In the vicinity of Lieksa, towards the east, fishing canoeing and hiking is recommended. A famous bear route also starts here, the Karhunpolka. This interesting route, about 120 km long, leads to the north through the Patvinsuo park. The Ruaankoski rapids are an attraction around Lieksa. A good impression of the area around Lieksa can be obtained from the 47 m high water tower. However, it is worth noting to never go out alone in the region and especially inexperienced walking boots have to join guided tours. They are available for groups but also for individuals.
