Campsites in Denmark

• Sjæland (Sealand)
• Camping in cabins
• Visit Copenhagen from the campsites in Denmark
• Cycle the Margueritruten

Denmark is a very camping-friendly country with many options, both for a camping holiday with a caravan or camper and a trek with a bicycle and tent. There are many beautiful campsites in Denmark and these campsites offer you an ideal place to camp or spend the night in Hutten. These cabins have a very diverse layout, ranging from a simple cabin with bunk beds to a very luxurious accommodation, which we refer to as a bungalow, with private bathroom, toilet, kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and TV. There are even very luxurious cabins with a whirlpool, washing machine and internet connection.

Cycle the Margueritruten

The roads in Denmark are generally of good quality. You can cycle very well there. Would you like to discover the most beautiful places in Denmark? Which can! Grab your bike from the campsites in Denmark and ride part of the Margueritruten, named after the current Queen Magarete. This 3,500km route goes straight through the Danish landscape, and takes you past beautiful flora and fauna. A map with text and explanation is available at a tourist office (VVV), also in Dutch.

Visit Copenhagen from the campsites in Denmark

What could be more fun than taking a trip to a cosmopolitan city during your camping holiday at one of the Danish campsites? When you stay in Denmark, a visit to Copenhagen should not be missed. There is something for everyone in this versatile city. Enjoy shopping in one of the shopping streets? Or would you rather immerse yourself in Danish culture? Our tip: explore Copenhagen by bike or take a walk through the old town and past the royal palaces.

Sjæland (Sealand)

Denmark is approximately one day's drive from the Netherlands. The weather is comparable to that of our Wadden Islands and Zeeland. When you camp at one of the campsites in Denmark, you have the advantage that you are never more than 80 km from the sea, and a rain shower can quickly blow over. To reach the island of Sjæland, on which Copenhagen is located, you can choose an alternative route. This saves the expensive crossing between Puttgarden and Rodby, and you can immediately see much of the beauty of the country. Then travel from the Netherlands towards Hamburg, Flensburg and Funen (with the capital Odense, known as the birthplace of HC Andersen). Continue via Langeland and then take the Spodsberg Tårs ferry or the StoreBeltBro toll bridge to Korsør.

Practical information

A valid passport or European identity card is required. Drivers of motor vehicles must have a valid driver's license, registration certificate and green card. If you drive a trailer or caravan, you must have the papers with you. Denmark is a member of the EU but does not participate in the euro.

Traffic around the campsites in Denmark

roads in Denmark are generally of good quality. You can cycle very well there. In addition to ten national routes with a total of 3,000 km, the country also has a lot of regional and local routes with a total length of 7,000 km. You cycle almost everywhere on quiet roads, on asphalted cycle paths or characteristic Danish sand paths.

On the highways you are allowed a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Outside built-up areas, the maximum speed for a vehicle with a trailer/caravan is 70 km/h and on motorways 80 km/h. In Denmark, all motor vehicles must have at least dipped beam headlights during the day.

Roadside assistance

If you have a breakdown on the road, you can contact the Dansk Autohjaelp on telephone number 0045-70108090. You can also call the Falck organization for help on number: 0045-70102030. The International Travel and Credit Letter is required for both organizations. You can request current traffic information from TIC (0045-70101040), or FDM, (0045-45270707).
