De provincie Rogaland ligt in het zuidwesten van Noorwegen en grenst aan Hordaland, Telemark en Vest- en Aust Agder. Het herbergt ca. 400.000 inwoners, waarvan de helft in de prachtige steden Stavanger en Haugesund woont. Rogaland ligt aan de kust, met vele eilanden, inhammen en prachtige stranden. Aan de kust liggen dan ook nagenoeg alle campings in Rogaland.

Steden in Rogaland

Vanaf de campings in Rogaland zijn leuke stedentrips te maken. De kustplaats Haugesund heeft een prachtige haven: zeker een bezoekje waard! Waar Stavanger het centrum van de olie-industrie in Noorwegen vormt. Stavanger heeft echter veel meer te bieden. Het is een mooie stad met een prachtige kathedraal (oudste stenen kerk van Noorwegen) en een gezellige haven met veel terrasjes. Wandel ook even door het oude gedeelte van de stad, met z’n oude witte (houten) huisjes.

Preikestolen

Check! Staat deze uitdaging al op je bucketlist? De Preikestolen (preekstoel) vlakbij Stavanger, is een berg boven de Lysefjord in Rogaland in de vorm van een preekstoel. De wandeltocht naar de top van de ruim 600 meter hoge klif, is 3,8 kilometer en de gemiddelde wandelaar doet er zo’n 2 uur over. Eenmaal op de top geeft het uitzicht de beloning die je verdiend hebt…
Het is verreweg de grootste attractie in de provincie Rogaland en trekt jaarlijks meer dan 100.000 toeristen. De rots heeft een omvang van 25 – 25 meter en is zo goed als egaal. Vanaf de rots heeft u een geweldig uitzicht over de fjorden en omliggende bergen. Geheel “in Noorse stijl” is de rots niet omheind door hekken. Puur natuur!

Na 2 uur wandelen en klimmen nog niet moe ? Ga dan nog ‘1 tree hoger” en maak een foto van de Preikestolen! Nog een mogelijkheid om de Preikestolen van een andere kant te bekijken is met een boottocht door het Lysefjord.

Campings bij de Preikestolen

In de naaste omgeving ligt één camping, waar overigens Nederlands gesproken wordt. Maar de Preikestolen is ook vanuit andere campings in de Rogaland goed te bereiken. Bij de campings in de buurt van de plaats Jørpeland, waar de Preikestolen gelegen is.

Kamperen op campings in de regio Vest-Agder

Vest Agder ligt in het zuiden van Noorwegen en grenst aan de provincies Rogaland in het westen en Aust Agder in het oosten. Kristiansand is niet alleen de hoofdstad van de provincie Vest Agder, maar is tevens min of meer de hoofdstad van Zuid Noorwegen geworden. Samen met Aust Agder vormt Vest Agder het landsdeel Sørlandet.

Kristiansand is tevens de bekendste plaats van Vest Agder en dat komt deels omdat veel toeristen hier met de veerboot in Noorwegen aankomen en deels omdat even buiten Kristiansand het Kristiansand Zoo en Amusement Park gevestigd is. Verder attracties in Kristiansand zijn het Vest Agder Museum, het Agder Natuurmuseum en Botanische Tuinen, het Kristiansand Kanonmuseum met 1 van de grootste kanonnen ter wereld en de vismarkt in de haven met gezellige restaurants, grachten en pleziervaart.

Andere gezellige kustplaatsjes in Vest Agder zijn Mandal, Flekkefjord en Farsund. De regio Vest Agder kent niet veel campings. Een aantal liggen er langs de kust, een aantal liggen aan de “468” boven Tonstad.
