Pure nature in Wallonia
The nature in Wallonia is characterized by a great diversity. From hills with extensive forests to peatland and from gently sloping countryside to huge rock formations. The heart of Wallonia has been declared a Geopark by UNESCO, confirming the exceptional nature of Wallonia. It is not only beautiful above the ground, but also below the ground you will be amazed. Like in the Caves of Han, Remouchamps and Hotton.

Cycling between the hills
Many Dutch people brave the hills in Wallonia by bike, known for classics such as Liège-Bastogne-Liège. But recreational cyclists will also discover Wallonia with an extensive cycling network and the so-called RAVeL routes. These flat cycle routes run along rivers and over old railways that have been converted into cycle paths. The Vennbahn was even named Bicycle Route of the Year. E-bikes can be rented at various places.

Hiking in Wallonia
Wallonia and hiking go hand in hand. There are hundreds of signposted walking routes for a short or longer walk. The varied landscape cannot be compared with the Netherlands, while you can be in Wallonia within a few hours. The walks lead through the woods, along rivers with rapids and to breathtaking viewpoints. In Wallonia, nature is in charge and you will find a pleasant peace and space.

Canoeing and survival
Wallonia is ideally suited for real survival activities. No climbing wall can compete with that. Professional outdoor sports companies have established themselves in the most beautiful places and offer an extensive range of activities. Climbing and abseiling against the immense rock formations, caving through the caves, mountain biking through the woods and canoeing on rivers such as the Ourthe, the Lesse and the Semois.

The excellent survival possibilities also make Wallonia popular for a family reunion, team building or a weekend with friends.

Feast in the land of beer, chocolate and more
In the culinary field, Belgium is at the top. During your stay in Wallonia you can enjoy it in various ways. The restaurants are of a high standard, sometimes literally, such as 7 Meuses near Namur and in Rochehaut near Bouillon. Wallonia Belgium Tourism has even issued a map with delicious routes. Taste the best beers in the breweries, Liège waffles, Belgian chocolate, cheese, ham, Peket and much more. In this way, hospitable craftsmen ensure that you spend a nice holiday in the Belgian Ardennes.

Castles, Abbeys and Churches
The number of castles and fortresses in Wallonia is impressive. The history and grandeur of the buildings in combination with park-like gardens make the castles unmissable sights. The centuries-old buildings are historical heritage and often house museums, but sometimes you can also spend the night, dine and taste Walloon specialities. So admire the castles and fortresses with ringing names, such as the castle of Freÿr, Vêves, Reinhardstein, Modave, Beloeil and Hélécine.

Small but beautiful are the most beautiful villages in Wallonia (beaux villages).
Idyllic and quietly located villages with an abbey or church, which is beautiful both inside and out. Far away from mass tourism, you can enjoy the peace, charm and nature in these villages that Wallonia is known for.

Close to home you will discover a world that is completely different, ideal for a long holiday or a few days away.
